Tamasek Invests $250 Million in Columbia Pacific for China Hospitals

Columbia Pacific Management, an Asia healthcare provider based in Seattle, formed a 50/50 JV with Temasek to build healthcare facilities in China. Temasek is the sovereign wealth fund of Singapore. The JV, Columbia China, is the China division of Columbia Pacific. Columbia China already owns hospitals, clinics and senior living facilities in China, and it has more under construction. Temasek will invest $250 million into the JV for its 50% stake. With the money, Columbia China will add to its development projects. More details....

Fosun Forms $100 Million China Medical Device JV with Intuitive Surgical

Shanghai Fosun Pharma has formed a $100 million China medical device JV with Intuitive Surgical of Massachusetts. The JV will develop novel robotic-assisted catheter-based medical devices that use Intuitive Surgical's IP, initially for early diagnosis of lung cancer. Intuitive makes the well-known da Vinci suite of minimally-invasive surgical devices. Based in Shanghai, the JV will develop and manufacture the devices for global markets. The JV will also be in charge of China distribution, while Intuitive will be responsible for ex-China sales. More deails....

TenNor of Suzhou Raises $25 Million for Dual-Action Antibiotics

TenNor Therapeutics of Suzhou announced a $25 million Series B financing led by Northern Light Venture Capital. TenNor is developing novel dual-acting antibiotics for unmet needs.The company's lead product, TNP-2092, is an oral capsule that treats  gastrointestinal tract bacterial infections, especially digestive diseases associated with Helicobacter pylori. The funding will be used to support a China Phase III trial of TNP-2092. More details....

Luxin Venture Capital Contributes to Boston's Intarcia Therapeutics $215 Million Round

Luxin Venture Capital of Shandong Province participated in the first closing of the latest funding round for Boston's Intarcia Therapeutics. Intarcia is developing a novel delivery device for type 2 diabetes, the Medici Drug Delivery System™. The initial close raised $215 million. Intarcia anticipates a much larger close in Q4. Intarcia has completed three Phase III trials of its matchstick-sized implantable device that metes out a year-long supply of exenatide, a glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) receptor agonist. Tianjin Pharma Invests $20 Million in Neuralstem of the US
Sep 12, 2016
Tianjin Pharmaceutical Holding Group has agreed to invest $20 million in Neuralstem, a Maryland company using small molecules and stem cells to treat CNS disorders. Neuralstem plans to use the capital for clinical trials. After the investment, Tianjin will control the equivalent of 40% of Neuralstem's outstanding shares. Neuralstem, which currently has a market capitalization of $38.5 million, is focused on novel CNS treatments. More details....
