Guangzhou Lupeng Pharmaceutical completed its second $35 million pre-B tranche led by Kaitai Capital and Temasek. Temasek also led the previous $35 million pre-B tranche, which was completed one year ago. Founded in 2018, Lupeng aims to develop global best-in-class small molecule therapies for cancer, hepatitis B and autoimmune diseases. Currently, the company is conducting nine clinical trials of four clinical stage assets in China and the US. Its lead drug is a selective Bcl-2 inhibitor aimed at advanced leukemia while a second drug, a dual Bcl-2/Bcl-xl inhibitor, also targets cancer. More details....

Shanghai NovoCodex Biopharm started a China Phase 1 trial of an anti-CD70 ADC in patients with advanced solid tumors. NovoCodex, a majority owned subsidiary of Zhejiang Medicine, acquired China rights to the candidate, ARX305, from San Diego’s Ambrx in 2019, its second in-licensing from the company. According to Ambrx, ARX305 is the only anti-CD70 ADC in active development that targets CD70, a protein overexpressed in a broad range of solid and hematologic tumors. More details....

Sirnaomics reported that its lead product, an siRNA (small interfering RNA) therapy, produced a 100% complete response in patients with cutaneous basal cell carcinoma. Five patients received a 180μg dose of STP705 in the Phase II clinical trial of STP705. The candidate is composed of two siRNA oligonucleotides that target the expression of TGF-β1 and COX-2 mRNA, respectively. BCC is a nonmelanoma skin cancer associated with exposure to ultraviolet radiation from the sun. Sirnaomics is a Suzhou-Maryland biotech dedicated to RNAi drug development. More details....
