Suzhou Ribo Life Science formed a collaboration with Boehringer Ingelheim that will apply its siRNA expertise to develop novel treatments for nonalcoholic or metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (NASH/MASH) in a deal that could be worth up to $2 billion. Ribo will receive an upfront payment plus milestones and royalties for developing multi-target candidates. The agreement will include Ribocure AB, a Swedish subsidiary of Ribo Life Science that develops siRNA molecules. Ribocure uses its vertically integrated oligonucleotide research platform to deliver new candidates efficiently. In 2022, it advanced three projects to clinical stage in 20-24 months from concept to implementation. More details....

Shanghai Belief BioMed completed dosing the first subject in a China registrational trial of BBM-H803, a gene therapy for hemophilia A developed and produced by Belief BioMed. BBM has already been approved to launch another gene therapy, BBM-H901, an adeno-associated virus (AAV)-based AAV gene therapy, for hemophilia B. In 2022, BBM-H803 was granted Orphan Drug Designation in the US. Currently, there are no adeno-associated virus (AAV)-based gene therapies available in China to treat adults with hemophilia A. Suzhou MediLink Therapeutics out-licensed global rights for its pre-clinical c-Mesenchymal epithelial transition factor (c-Met) ADC to Roche in a $1 billion agreement. MediLink will work with Roche's R&D unit, China Innovation Center of Roche, to start a Phase I clinical trial of YL211. After the trial, Roche will responsible for all further development and commercialization globally. MediLink will receive $50 million in upfront and near-term milestone payments and $1 billion of later milestones, plus tiered royalties. Three months ago, MediLink out-licensed global rights for an HER ADC to BioNTech in a $1.1 billion agreement. More details....

Jinan Qilu Pharma in-licensed greater China rights to PCSK9-targeting antisense oligonucleotide from Suzhou Ribo Life Science in a deal worth $100 million in upfront and milestone payments, plus royalties. Qilu will have development, production, and commercialization rights to RED7022, a small interfering RNA drug aimed at treating hyperlipidemia. The candidate inhibits the expression of PCSK9 protein, reducing lysosomal degradation of low-density lipoprotein receptors. It is currently in a China Phase I trial. Qilu offers active pharmaceutical ingredients and finished drugs, but also develops innovative drugs. More details....

Suzhou Innovent Biologics and Sanegene Bio, a Suzhou-Boston RNA company, will collaborate to co-develop SGB-3908, a siRNA drug candidate targeting angiotensinogen to treat hypertension. SGB-3908 is an IND-enabling stage candidate developed on SanegeneBio's proprietary LEAD™ (Ligand and Enhancer Assisted Delivery) platform. The two companies will be jointly responsible for developing SGB-3908 to a specific stage. At that point, Innovent can exercise its exclusive option to acquire development, manufacturing and commercialization rights to SGB-3908. If Innovent exercises the option, SanegeneBio will be eligible to receive milestone payments and tiered royalties. More details....
