WuXi PharmaTech Unveils Mobile App to Order Chemical Synthesis

To make life easier for its CRO clients, WuXi PharmaTech announced a mobile app, WuXi V-Lab, to order chemical synthesis services (see website). Customers can make inquiries, get quotes, place orders, track progress or pay via mobile phones with either Android or iOS operating systems. WuXi wants to make its portfolio of CRO/CMO services available to the global market, and with the new app, placing a chemical synthesis order becomes a routine retail event, like paying for a Starbucks coffee. WuXi PharmaTech Making Good on Biologics Investments

With the end of 2014 almost here, WuXi PharmaTech sent a Christmas greeting that highlights the China CRO/CMO's accomplishments in biologics, including having built the largest biologics development team of any CRO/CMO. Several years ago, WuXi identified biologics as a major focus for growth, allocating much of its considerable annual capex budget on biologics. As Chris Chen, PhD, Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer of WuXi, pointed out in his Christmas email, WuXi has achieved significant biologics milestones as a result. More details....

WuXi PharmaTech and Foundation Partner to Offer Cancer Test in China

WuXi PharmaTech formed a collaboration with Foundation Medicine of Cambridge, MA that will offer the FoundationOne® assay in China. The assay tests for genetic abnormalities associated with cancer to determine the best treatment. For pharmas undertaking China clinical trials, the personalized medicine test will identify target patient populations. WuXi, whose venture arm was an early investor in Foundation, will perform the laboratory component of the assay at its Shanghai Genome Center. More details....

Novotech, an Australian CRO, Opens Shanghai Office

Novotech, a pan-Asia clinical-stage CRO headquartered in Australia, has opened a Shanghai office, a wholly owned entity with a local staff. Previously, Novotech operated in China through partners. The company was responding, it said, to the requests of its international pharma clients for China trials. Novotech pointed out that China is the largest site for clinical trials in Asia and the fifth largest in the world. More details....
