Roche to Hire 1,000 New Employees in China

Roche will hire an additional 1,000 people in China over the next year, bringing its China total to more than 6,000, according to Severin Schwan, CEO of the Swiss biopharma. A few years ago, the company employed only a “few hundred,” said Schwan. The reason behind the increased staffing is rising sales: during the first half of 2012, Roche’s pharma revenues in China climbed 28% from the year earlier, while its diagnostics division posted an even larger 32% rise.
