China Allows Importation of "Small" Amounts of Non-China-Approved Drugs

In a new ruling, China has decided to allow the importation of small amounts of drugs that are not approved in China but are legal elsewhere. According to a Reuters report, the change was designed to help China patients who are unable to buy China-approved foreign drugs because of their cost. Reuters attributed the change to a movie “Dying To Survive,” which caused outrage. It was based on the real story of a China leukemia patient who was jailed for importing an India generic to a more expensive treatment from Novartis. More details...
