China's State Council Announces Official $6.5 Billion VC Fund

China’s State Council announced a new $6.5 billion venture capital fund for startup companies in emerging industries. Biotech and green energy were mentioned as likely candidates by commentators. The fund will be a combination of government and public funds, whose goal is to encourage economic growth by building "high-tech, high-value-added services" industries, according to the official announcement on the State Council's website.
