While investment in life science continues to shrink in the U.S., China is setting new records. VC investment, IPOs and M&A activity all saw new highs in 2010, with VC investments in life science companies averaging $21M and many VC and partnering deals netting $20M to $100M and more. This session will provide information on the sources of funding in China and how western companies can access government, institutional and commercial funding.

Moderator: Greg Scott, Founder and CEO, ChinaBio, LLC

Location: Marines’ Memorial Club & Hotel
609 Sutter Street
San Francisco, CA 94102

Conference Dates: January 10-12, 2012

Special Panel: The Life Science Investment Climate in China

The Biotech Showcase
(www.ebdgroup.com/bts)

8:00 AM Tuesday, Jan. 10

While the rest of the world struggled, China is setting new records in venture capital investment, IPO and M&A activity, and partnering deals. More money was pumped into China life science companies by China government, VCs and private equity funds in 2010 than ever before. In 2011, several early stage companies have attracted more than $100M US in equity funding. Will this trend continue in 2012? This special session will focus on the funding climate in China and the potential opportunities for investors and entrepreneurs alike.

Moderator: Greg Scott

Panelists:
Leon Chen, Partner, Fidelity Growth Partners Asia
Darren Ji, Former CEO, PharmaLegacy
Kewen Jin, Managing Partner, Wen Associates
Victor Shi, President, Qiagen Asia
Steve Yang, VP & Head of R&D Asia, AstraZeneca

The Biotech Showcase will be located at:

Parc 55 Wyndham San Francisco – Union Square
