Six Cases of Avian Flu in China This Month; Five Deaths

So far this month, six individuals in China have contracted the deadly H5N1 strain of bird flu; five of them have died. The sixth man, a 29-year-old individual from southwestern Guizhou province, surnamed Zhou, remains in critical, though stable condition. He had visited live-poultry markets prior to falling ill. The good news is that each case remains isolated: no human-to-human transfer of the virus has been observed. More details...
