A total of $35.6 billion was raised for China private equity investing in 2007, an increase of 151% over 2006. On the investment side, 177 transactions worth $12.8 billion were closed. The dollar value of 2007 investments was equal with 2006 levels, though the number of deals was higher by 37%.  Bio/healthcare was the recipient of $659 million of the funds invested, about 5% of the total.
