Liver Cancer Test Stopped Early Bayer (BAY) and Onyx (ONXX) put an early stop to a Phase III trial of Nexavar in Asia-Pacific patients because the results were positive. All patients have been put on the drug. The trial was conducted among patients with hepatocellular carcinoma, the most common form of liver cancer. The drug extended overall survival, progression-free survival and time-to-progression among the patients, though specific results will not be released until the two drug companies can present the data at a scientific conference.
